COME to our meetings!

Please show up on time next meeting on Thursday at 9 am.
We are having a really hard time with attendance
(which is demoralizing to those who do show up).
Be ready for anything.
Dress crazy.
Be prepared for performance and making/flying kites.

We need the entire group to be there to discuss and prepare for the show which is next week!!

We cleaned the space up today for the WARP Final Show on Friday and need to tidy up a little more Thursday.

We made a kite today and it was successful!
Kirian, Evan, and I flew them and it was lots of fun!
Lindsay took pictures!

Please please don't miss out next time.
We really want to make more and fly them at the landfill.

ALSO:
I checked wind speeds.
Wednesday has predicted 17 mph and Tuesday it's 10 mph, so it's died down.
We might need to think up of a Plan B if the wind's not strong enough (kites on bikes?)!

Making a very basic mini-parachute:

I have a feeling people will really enjoy these.

(Thanks Nancy!)

Tomorrow (tuesday)

I won't be able to stay for class tomorrow because I need to go collect things for my senior show (which I'm installing saturday), which requires a truck, and the person letting me borrow their truck only can do it during our class time on tuesday. However, if there is ANYTHING I can do to help us get ready for our last show in the mean time please let me know.
Sorry guys, I'll definitely be there on thursday to help out more.

Confusion about website server

I found out that we don't necessarily need to buy a server, as free webhosting is provided when you buy a domain name/url. HOWEVER, it's only free because advertisements will be on your website. Personally, I find this to contradict Confetti's manifesto (pro-consumerism vs. reuse/recycle/salvage/rescue) and also unprofessional and I'd strongly suggest buying a server.

For one year: $49... ~$4 per person
For two years: ~$113... $7 per person
For three years: ~$162 ... ~$10 per person

hi guys,
i know this isn't exactly the kind of info meant for the blog but I didn't know how to mass email everyone. I wanted to apologize for me being absent the past week and a half. I've been really sick with the flu and infection and haven't been well enough to attend any of my classes. I'm sorry I've missed so much, including the collage party. Is there anyway someone could get me up to date on Confetti? My email is kirian@ufl.edu. Thanks guys and sorry again. I'll see everyone Thursday for sure.

Confetti website

Okay. So for a Confetti website, we need to pay for two things.
1. The domain name / the website address itself (so either weareconfetti.com or con-fetti.com, etc.)
2. The server to host our website

The domain name is cheap - $10 a year.
The server is more expensive. It is $3.65 a month for 3 years, which doesn't sound like a lot, but that adds up to $131.40. We were talking about having this website up for as many years as possible, so we need to talk about how much each person is willing to put in, and how many years that will allow for us to keep the website up. To have the website up for three years would be $161.40 and if that's divided by 16 (how many people are in Confetti?) people, it would be ~$10 per person.

I'm getting both of these - server and domain name, from godaddy.com (suggested by my computer-internet savvy brother).

The web hosting provides email addresses if people are interested in having their own confetti email accounts... and it looks like we can put a blog up on the website, which I guess would eradicate this one, and that might be cool so we only have one web address to tell people.
